CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers are mourning the loss of one of the agency’s eight drug-detection K-9s, which was put down this past week after the dog was discovered with inoperable cancer.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1gBKF3C ) the black Labrador retriever named Flora was credited with discovering more than $4 million in illegal drugs throughout her 261 deployments since joining the force in 2009. Those findings included nearly 270 pounds of marijuana, 64 pounds of cocaine and 15.2 pounds of methamphetamine.

The dog was 6 years old and worked with Trooper Josh Undeberg, who works out of the Highway Patrol’s Gillette office.
