BUIES CREEK, N.C. (AP) - Warren Gillis scored 18 points as Coastal Carolina won for the sixth time in its last seven games, beating Campbell 61-58 on Saturday.
Gillis made Coastal Carolina’s only field goal in the final 4 minutes and his two free throws made it 59-52 with 1:59 left. But Luke Moyer and Leek Leek made consecutive 3-pointers to pull Campbell within a point with 22 seconds left. Josh Cameron made both free throws with 16 seconds left and Reco McCarter missed a game-tying 3-pointer on Campbell’s final possession.
Cameron and Elijah Wilson added 13 apiece for Coastal Carolina (13-9, 6-2 Big South Conference). The Chanticleers remain atop the South Division.
Darius Leonard had 16 points for Campbell (11-12, 5-3), including five 3-pointers. The Camels made 11 of 30 from beyond the arc. Andrew Ryan made two from long range and finished with 10 points.
