A Walgreens in Northridge, California, is in hot water for some wrapping paper it was selling for the Hanukkah market that seemed, on closer scrutiny, to include a blue-and-gold weave of Nazi swastikas.
An outraged shopper said to NBC Los Angeles that she discovered the paper and immediately called her rabbi and then the store manager.
“I really put my foot down because I was appalled by this,” said Cheryl Shapiro, who found the paper while shopping with her grandson, the New York Daily News said. “At first I called my rabbi. I didn’t know what to do.”
She then demanded the manager remove the wrap.
And that’s not the only Walgreens selling the same design. One down the road had the identical wrapping paper for sale in its store, NBC Los Angeles reported.
“I’m still very upset about it, that something like this could be on the market,” Ms. Shapiro told the media outlet.
