Former Alaska Gov. and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is among those scheduled to appear at the inaugural Iowa Freedom Summit next month, to be hosted by GOP Rep. Steve King and Citizens United.

A number of past and possibly future GOP presidential hopefuls are scheduled to appear at the event to be held Jan. 24, about a year in advance of the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses, including Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

The summit is billed as “a launch point for conservative ideas” heading into 2016, and will also give potential candidates a chance to pitch themselves to grassroots party activists who play a significant role in the caucuses every four years.
