The PlayStation Network and PlayStation Store were hacked, leaving millions of users without access to aspects of the game’s systems.
The hacking organization Lizard Squad has claimed responsibility for the mischief, sending out a tweet that said: “PSN Login #offline #LizardSquad,” Beta News reported.
Ask PlayStation, the official handle of the Sony service, meanwhile, tweeted this: “We are aware that users are having issues connecting to PSN. Thanks for your patience as we investigate,” Beta News reported.
This isn’t the first cyberattack to strike the company. Just a few days ago, Sony was subjected to a series of high-profile hacks that released personal details about movie stars and company employees.
Those visiting the PlayStation Store were greeted with this message: “Page Not Found! It’s not you. It’s the Internet’s fault,” Beta News reported.
