President Obama will host Prince William at the White House on Monday on his first visit to Washington.
“We’ll have a little royalty in the house on Monday,” said White House press secretary Josh Earnest.
The prince is coming to Washington to speak to the World Bank about illegal wildlife trafficking, a subject that Mr. Earnest said Mr. Obama also is concerned about.
“The president welcomes the prince’s work in this global fight against what is both a national security threat and a devastating environmental problem,” Mr. Earnest said.
Prince William, the duke of Cambridge, will not be accompanied at the White House by his wife the duchess, Kate Middleton.
