Jay Gruden said Thursday he’s “very concerned” about the status of the six injured players who were unable to participate in any portion of the Washington Redskins’ practice — a list that includes wide receiver DeSean Jackson, inside linebacker Keenan Robinson and strong safety Brandon Meriweather.
Jackson is recovering from bruises on both of his lower legs sustained Sunday in the loss to Indianapolis, but Gruden said that medical examinations have showed there’s nothing structurally wrong and that Jackson is merely trying to manage the pain.
Robinson sprained the MCL in his left knee, and though he finished the game against the Colts, was unable to practice even with a brace on the knee. Meriweather sprained one of his big toes and also missed his second consecutive practice.
Biggers is continuing to recover from a concussion sustained Nov. 23 in the Redskins’ loss at San Francisco. He practiced in part on Wednesday, but by sitting out a day later, it appears his recurring symptoms have returned.
Minnifield, meanwhile, sustained his concussion on Sunday, and with both players unable to participate in a non-contact practice on Thursday, their availability for the Redskins’ upcoming game against St. Louis is in doubt.
Golston has been bothered by a lower back injury since the game against San Francisco, and Gruden said on Monday he’s fairly certain the defensive end will be unable to face the Rams.
Defensive end Jason Hatcher (sprained right knee), nose tackle Chris Baker (sprained right steronoclavicular joint) and free safety Ryan Clark (stinger) were limited in practice, while outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan (bruised right wrist), inside linebacker Will Compton (pinched nerve in neck) and running back Silas Redd (bruised rib) were able to complete a full practice.
Right tackle Tyler Polumbus was not in attendance at practice on Thursday as he deals with a family matter, Gruden said.
