A Canadian 15-year-old has been charged with terrorism-related offenses after allegedly planning to leave the country and join “terrorist activity abroad.”
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) did not provided the child’s name due to the suspect’s age, nor did they state the terrorist organization the individual sought to join. The teenager appeared Wednesday in a Montreal court.
“The RCMP is relentless in its pursuit of those who would seek to participate in terrorist activity,” Assistant Commissioner James Malizia, the officer in charge of RCMP Federal Policing Operations, said in a statement, Reuters reported Thursday.
Canadian law enforcement officials are currently tracking 93 individuals they consider high-risk travelers who might join terrorist organizations upon leaving the country, Reuters reported.
