Rapper Nicki Minaj says she still feels overwhelming guilt from an abortion she had as a teenager, but admits it was the right choice for her at the time.

The “Pills n Potions” rapper, now 32, told Rolling Stone that she terminated a pregnancy when she was still attending a performing arts high school in New York.

When Ms. Minaj discovered she was pregnant, “I thought I was going to die,” she told the magazine. “I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I’d ever gone through.”

The decision to have an abortion has “haunted me all my life,” she said, but admitted she wasn’t ready for motherhood.

“It’d be contradictory if I said I wasn’t pro-choice. I wasn’t ready. I didn’t have anything to offer a child,” Ms. Minaj said.
