Wide receiver DeSean Jackson (bruised right fibula) and defensive lineman Jason Hatcher (unspecified right knee injury) were among the five Redskins that did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Defensive lineman Kedric Golston (back/foot), safety Brandon Meriweather (toe) and cornerback Chase Minnifield (concussion) also did not practice. Five others were limited as they continue to recover from various maladies.
In his press conference on Monday, coach Jay Gruden all but ruled out Golston for Sunday’s game against the Rams due to a combination of lower back inflammation and plantar fasciitis. Gruden also did not sound optimistic about Meriweather’s status, which likely would push backup Phillip Thomas into a starting role.
“We don’t know where Meriweather is at right now,” Gruden said Wednesday. “He is a little sore still, but Phillip has got to step up and play.”
Linebackers Will Compton (stinger) and Keenan Robinson (knee) were limited in practice Wednesday, as were cornerback E.J. Biggers (concussion), safety Ryan Clark (stinger) and defensive lineman Chris Baker (chest).
Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan (wrist) and running back Silas Redd (rib) were full participants. Left tackle Trent Williams, who returned to action last week and played the entirety of Sunday’s game against Indianapolis, practiced fully and was not listed on the injury report.
