PUBLIC LANDS FIGHT

SALT LAKE CITY - Republican lawmakers on a state public lands panel are praising a new report that says Utah could afford to manage about 30 million federally-controlled acres if the state somehow got control over that land. PRISON RELOCATION

SALT LAKE CITY - A panel of lawmakers is expected to give an update Wednesday afternoon on their search for a site to build a new state prison. The state Prison Relocation Commission has narrowed created a shortlist from 26 possible sites, but has not yet publicly identified the locations. By Michelle L. Price. POLYGAMY-ABUSE ALLEGATIONS

SALT LAKE CITY - One of the largest organized polygamy groups in Utah is investigating an allegation that its leader years ago molested one of his daughters who is now featured in a reality TV show. David Watson, a spokesman for the Apostolic United Brethren, or AUB, said Wednesday they are looking into the allegations but wouldn’t elaborate on an internal probe. Rosemary Williams of “My Five Wives” on TLC wrote in a blog posted last month that she was molested more than two decades ago by her father, Lynn A. Thompson. By Brady McCombs. MUMMY LAKE MYSTERY

MESA VERDE NATIONAL PARK, Colo. - Was it a reservoir, a ceremonial plaza, a ball court? Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado is taking a new look at a ruin known as Mummy Lake in hopes of determining how ancient Puebloans used it, The Cortez Journal reported Monday. - HELICOPTER CRASH-UTAH - Police say two men killed when a helicopter crashed into an empty building north of Salt Lake City were both from northern Utah.

- OBAMA-CLIMATE-CITIES - The White House is singling out Boston, San Francisco, Seattle and 13 other cities for leading their peers in efforts to address climate change.

- BODY-JORDAN RIVER - Authorities say a body found in the Jordan River earlier this week belongs to a 30-year-old Murray woman whose disappearance nine weeks ago triggered a vigorous search.
