Although a new poll shows former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush leading a field of potential 2016 GOP presidential contenders, Republican voters are divided on whether Mr. Bush should make a run in the first place.

Thirty-three percent of likely Republican voters think Mr. Bush should run for president in 2016, while 34 think he should not and 33 percent aren’t sure, according to a Rasmussen poll conducted Sunday.

To be sure, Mr. Bush is polling strongly in early surveys on the potential 2016 GOP field, but the son and brother of two former U.S. presidents has also received sustained, renewed media coverage for the past few weeks since announcing earlier this month that he’s actively exploring a bid.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is also polling strongly in early looks at 2016, but he, too, has instant name recognition as the party’s 2012 presidential nominee and his name continues to be raised as a possibility even though he has said he isn’t planning a third run at the White House.

The Rasmussen poll of 1,000 likely voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
