Mel Brooks weighed in on the controversy surrounding Sony and the Kim Jong-un deprecating movie “The interview,” joking that he at least waited until Hitler no longer posed a threat before directing “The Producers.”
“I waited ’til Hitler was dead!” the famed comedic director shouted during a recent taping of “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
Mr. Brooks was asked by the host what he thought about Sony’s decision to pull “The Interview” from theaters over threats by North Korean hackers.
“I don’t know how crazy they [North Korea] are, so I’m gonna ask you to stop talking about it right now,” Mr. Brooks joked. “They’re, like, an inch away from the bomb.”
“Don’t worry, they’ll never spot us with me in this red suit,” said Mr. Kimmel, wearing an obnoxious Christmas outfit.
“I didn’t expect you to be funny!” Mr. Brooks said with a laugh.
