The posh shopping and touristy atmosphere of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills was shattered Monday as police shot a person inside a hotel lobby shortly after responding to a robbery at a nearby bank.

Police first responded to a call of a robbery at the Bank of America in Beverly Hills and captured one suspect just outside the facility, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Shortly after, a police officer at the Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel fired upon a second individual believed to be linked to the robbery.

The wounded suspect was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. No officers were injured, Renato Moreno, a lieutenant with the Beverly Hills Police Department, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Rodeo Drive was shut down for several hours to allow for police to respond and investigate. Tourists on the streets, meanwhile, snapped photographs of the scene.
