Islamists with the al Qaeda-tied al-Shabab group raided a quarry in Kenya, sifted through the workers to find those who weren’t Muslims and killed them.

At least 36 were executed, CNN said. Their bodies were found Tuesday, dumped in the quarry in Kormey by the border with Somalia, an official with the Kenyan Red Cross said.

The attack follows one last month where the same Islamist terrorists ambushed a bus that was traveling on a Kenyan road and gunned down those aboard who could not recite verses of the Koran. Twenty-eight or more were killed in that attack, CNN said.

Al-Shabab said the quarry execution was due to the mosque raids that Kenyan authorities conducted last month looking for extremists.

“Our Mujhahideen forces are always ready to launch frequent deadly cross-border attacks against Kenya as a revenge,” the group said in a statement reported by CNN.
