The wife and suspected son of Islamic State chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi were arrested in Lebanon, a military spokesman said.

Lebanon’s defense ministry confirmed to NBC News that the two were detained, but did not release additional details. Col. Anis Khoury said the army is heading up the investigation, USA Today reported.

The Lebanese daily newspaper As-Safir, which first reported the news, said the mother-son team was arrested about 10 days ago near a crossing point at the border with Syria. The arrest, the newspaper said, was in “coordination with foreign intelligence agencies,” but few details were released.

The two were carting forged identification cards, The Associated Press reported. Authorities conducted DNA tests to see if the boy traveling with her was the son of the Islamic State’s highest-ranking leader.
