Actor “James Flacco” has a big fan in the White House.
President Obama on Friday botched the name of Hollywood star James Franco, dubbing him “James Flacco” and getting mocked on Twitter by the real Flacco — Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.
The president made the flub during a press conference at the White House in which he answered questions about Sony’s decision to scrub the release of “The Interview” following terrorist threats. The film stars Seth Rogen and Mr. Franco.
“I think it says something interesting about North Korea that they decided to have the state mount an all-out assault on a movie studio because of a satirical movie starring Seth Rogen and James Flacco,” Mr. Obama said. “I love Seth and I love James. But the notion that that was a threat to them gives you some sense, I think, of the kind of regime we’re talking about here.”
The president said he believes Sony made a mistake in canceling the planned Dec. 25 release.
Within minutes, Mr. Flacco took to Twitter to correct the president and sarcastically welcome “James Flacco” to the family.
“It’s James Franco, not James Flacco,” he tweeted, following it up with “Welcome to the family, brother.”
