Redskins defensive lineman Jason Hatcher missed a fifth consecutive practice Thursday as he continues to nurse an unspecified right knee injury.
Hatcher injured the knee late last month and has declined to go into detail about how he sustained the injury. He was walking with a noticeable limp in the locker room.
Outside linebacker Gabe Miller (sprained left ankle) and safeties Brandon Meriweather (toe) and Trenton Robinson (illness) were also held out of Thursday’s practice. Coach Jay Gruden said Meriweather sat out because of lingering soreness.
“He tried to go yesterday on a limited basis and he didn’t feel right about it,” Gruden said. “You know, big toes for guys who have to backpedal are really, really hard.”
Left tackle Trent Williams was a limited participant Thursday, returning to practice for the first time since injuring his shoulder Sunday. Gruden said he is hopeful Williams will play Saturday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
“We definitely hope so,” Gruden said. “But you know, all these guys that are on the injury report have significant injuries and it’s something that we just have to talk with the trainers and then talk with each individual player about and hopefully he can go.”
Inside linebacker Keenan Robinson (knee) was also limited in practice. Defensive lineman Chris Baker (chest/toe), inside linebacker Will Compton (shoulder), running back Roy Helu (toe) and Kory Lichtensteiger (knee) were full participants.
