U.S.-led coalition airstrikes in Iraq have killed three top leaders of the Islamic State group in the past month and a half.
The U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen.Martin Dempsey told the Wall Street Journal of the successful airstrikes on Thursday.
A U.S. official speaking to NBC News on Thursday said the men were identified as Haji Mutazz, a deputy to the Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi; Abd al-Basit, the top military commander; and Radwin Talib, who is in control of the Islamic State group in Iraq.
The men were described as mid- to high-level leaders of the Sunni radical terror group, NBC reported.
