ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says a long-awaited study from the state Health Department on the impact of hydraulic fracturing is expected by the end of the year.
In a radio interview Monday, the governor says the department’s analysis of the health impacts of the drilling method for natural gas is “on time” for delivery this year.
He tells The Capitol Pressroom’s Susan Arbetter that his administration should have a position on both so-called “hydrofracking,” which the state has prohibited since 2008 pending environmental studies, and casinos.
A state board is expected to choose from various casino proposals Wednesday.
Cuomo says they’ll then start the new year “with some major decisions under our belts.”
