MARTINSVILLE, Va. (AP) - A New York man has donated more than 230 items from his taxidermy collection to the Virginia Museum of Natural History.

The Martinsville Bulletin reports (https://bit.ly/1Bp3td0 ) that Gregory Speck’s collection, which he kept in his Manhattan apartment, has been valued at more than $1 million.

Museum spokesman Zach Ryder says Speck, who is moving to Harrisonburg to be near family members, chose the Martinsville attraction because of its ability to properly care for, store and display the items.

Ryder says the mounts range from bison to wolves to waterfowl.
