A U.S. Navy investigation into the shower scandal aboard the ballistic missile submarine Wyoming Gold Crew has netted 12 suspects.
The Navy Times received a report that said 11 individuals are suspected of watching videos made of female officers aboard the submarine without reporting their existence up the chain of command. Only one individual is said to have been involved in the video’s production.
“This was not 11 guys, each with different” cameras, a source told Navy Times on Thursday. “It was really one guy doing the videography piece and then sharing it with other people.”
The USS Wyoming is based in Kings Bay, Georgia, and its female sailors were some of the first to serve in the submarine force.
“The Navy became aware of the alleged criminal activity in November 2014 and promptly began an investigation,” Lt. Leslie Hubbell, spokeswoman for Submarine Group 10 in Kings Bay, said in a statement, Navy Times reported Dec. 3.
The offenses were said to have occurred from August to November 2013 and March to June 2014. Navy Times said that the report must be forwarded up the chain of command before decisions regarding punishment are made.
