The Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. has given up its longstanding ban on selling its signature cookies online and said OK to the “Digital Cookie” platform to help sell and ship around the country.

Under the new platform, each Scout gets a cookie website to share with friends, family members and others who are invited, The New York Times reported.

For years, the organization limited sales of cookies to makeshift booths in front of select stores, to door-to-door knocks — or via sheets sent into work with parents. But the digital sales program kicks off this month in select spots around the nation.

By January, the program will be available on a nation basis — but still limited to only those who received an email invitation from Scouts, The New York Times reported.
