Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may normally charge about $200,000 per speech — but not in Chappaqua, N.Y., her adopted hometown.
For that crowd, she gave it away for free, The New York Times reported.
Mrs. Clinton delivered a Sunday address to seven high school seniors who were graduating from the Chappaqua Summer Scholarship Program, founded for low-income students at inner-city schools in 1968 after Robert F. Kennedy’s assassination. The selected students spend their summers making films, writing essays and even learning to program little robots.
“This program is really one of the best ways that all of us can break down the artificial barriers that too often exist,” Mrs. Clinton said, The New York Times reported.
Mrs. Clinton purchased a home in Chappaqua in 2000 for the price of $1.7 million in order to make a run for the U.S. Senate.
