A medical transport plane en route to Phoenix went down in a fiery crash just minutes after taking off from an airport in southern New Mexico, killing four aboard.
Witnesses said the plane had been flying low to the ground, when it spun out of control, the Los Angeles Times reported. The craft, a Cessna 421, was found burning near the Dona Ana County Fairgrounds, said Elizabeth Cory, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, in the Los Angeles Times.
Killed were the plane’s pilot, 29, a paramedic, 27, a nurse, 35, and the patient, 59, the newspaper reported.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Emergency responders said visibility was decent, and there was no rain or high wind.
