Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes says in a new television ad that she has a track record of standing up for those without a voice — and winning.

Mrs. Grimes is running against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in one of the most-watched races of the 2014 midterm election.

In the ad, Mrs. Grimes casts herself as a job creator and says Washington is “broken.”

“As secretary of state, I’ve worked with businesses large and small, and I know what it takes to bring good jobs to Kentucky,” Mrs. Grimes says in the 30-second “It’s time” ad.

Mrs. Grimes highlights how she led a bipartisan effort to make it easier for soldiers to vote while serving overseas and how she has provided free legal help to victims of domestic violence.

“I know how to fight for those without a voice and win,” Mrs. Grimes says. “I am Allison Lundergan Grimes, and I approve this message because Washington is broken and Kentucky needs a new senator.”

The latest Real Clear Politics Average of polls showed that Mr. McConnell leads Mrs. Grimes by 3 percentage points.
