China’s military held an exercise Friday aimed at showing off its latest warfare equipment — Z-10 and Z-19 attack helicopters and updated versions of the Type 99 main battle tanks.
State-run media said the show, dubbed the “Peace Mission-2014,” used live ammunition and featured more than 7,000 members of the military and personnel from China, Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, The Associated Press reported.
The military display capped a weeklong training session of regional groups, all known under the umbrella as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The Community Party’s People’s Daily newspaper said this was the first time that the attack helicopters and battle tanks took part in a regional exercise and that they performed to expectations, AP said.
