A man who was waving the black flag of the terrorist Islamic State group out of his car window as he drove the streets of Chicago — and who then allegedly threatened to explode a bomb — has been arrested by city police.

The story unfolded in part on Twitter.

Chicago Sun-Times tweeted: “A man with an ISIS flag waving from his vehicle threatened cops with a bomb.”

Another tweeted: “Chicago Man with ISIS flag on vehicle threatens cops with bomb.”

A blog posting on the Chicago Sun-Times revealed that the man, Emad Karakrah, 49, was ultimately charged with felony disorderly conduct and aggravated fleeing, as well as with several traffic violations.

The charges came after witnesses told police they saw a “suspicious person” driving a car with the flag of the Islamic State — or the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, ISIS — waving from his window.

Police reportedly tried to pull the man over, but he sped off, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. Officers then called for backup and another policeman apprehended him down the road after the driver blew by several red lights, the newspaper reported.

Mr. Karakrah then allegedly told police he had a bomb in his vehicle and that he would set it off if they tried to search, a police report said.

Twitchy reported several social media posters sounded off on the arrest.

“@Suntimes “It’s a logical progression to go from gang-banger to ISIS terrorist … Somebody needs to pay attention,” wrote one.

And another, Twitchy reported: “Dear Chicago gangs, utilize your hate for each other and go fight ISIS, we will take care of cleaning up the city. — American Citizen.”

The arrest comes just a few days after terrorists with the Islamic State posted several tweets that targeted Chicago residents — including one with a picture of a man on one street with the message: “We are in your streets.”
