Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is struggling to shake his Democratic opponent in the 2014 election, the outcome of which could impact his presidential aspirations.
A Marquette Law School poll shows that Democrat Mary Burke is leading Mr. Walker by 48.6 percent to 46.5 percent among likely voters. Mr. Walker, meanwhile, leads Ms. Burke among registered voters by a 47.5 to 44.1 percent margin.
Both results are within the poll’s margin of error. Released Wednesday, the survey of 815 registered voters was done Aug. 21-24 and carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percent.
The survey of 609 likely voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percent.
Mr. Walker has been cast as a possible contender for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination.
The Rothenberg Political Report and the Cook Political Report rank the race as a toss-up.
