A Chicago police commander with a reputation for tough, no-nonsense law enforcement was charged with putting the barrel of his gun into a suspect’s mouth.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Cmdr. Glenn Evans faces charges of aggravated battery and official misconduct, said Sally Daly, a spokeswoman for Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez. Cmdr. Evans is set for court on Thursday; he didn’t issue a statement but has been relieved of police duty, the newspaper said.
Cmdr. Evans allegedly placed his gun inside the mouth of a 24-year-old while he was arresting him back in January 2013. A police laboratory report subsequently found DNA on Cmdr. Evans’ gun barrel.
