A former government official was convicted Tuesday of child pornography charges that included his “interest in the violent rape and murder of children,” the Justice Department announced.
Timothy DeFoggi, 56, the former acting cybersecurity director for the Department Health and Human Services, was found guilty of several counts, including engaging in child exploitation and conspiring to advertise and distribute child pornography, an announcement from the Justice Department said.
Sentencing has been set for Nov. 7.
DeFoggi was part of a child pornography website, where at one point he “suggested meeting one member in person to fulfill their mutual fantasies to violently rape and murder children,” prosecutors said.
The website was shut down by the FBI in 2012.
