The Republican Governors Association is going to bat for Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback by tearing down his opponent, Democrat Paul Davis, in a new television ad.
The ad warns that Mr. Davis is too liberal for the Jayhawk State.
“Name the tax or fee, and Paul Davis probably voted to hike it, keep it or stop it from being cut,” the narrator says.
The commercial comes on the heels of a visit from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the head of the RGA, who campaigned with Mr. Brownback last week.
Mr. Davis is leading Mr. Brownback in the latest Real Clear Politics average of polls by a 45.8 percent to 43 percent margin.
The narrator in the RGA says that Mr. Davis backed the largest single tax increase in the state’s history and voted to increase fees of farm equipment.
“Liberal Lawrence legislator Paul Davis,” the narrator says. “Kansas just can’t afford him.”
