Michelle Nunn’s campaign for U.S. Senate in Georgia is getting a boost from Emily’s List, the activist group that supports pro-choice Democratic female candidates.

Emily’s List has purchased $1 million of TV time in Atlanta to run an ad attacking the business record of Ms. Nunn’s Republican opponent, former Dollar General CEO David Perdue, ABC News reported.

The $1 million ad buy is the largest by an outside group so far in the race.

Ms. Nunn is one of the Democratic Party’s top recruits this election cycle. But she faces an uphill battle in Georgia, where a Democrat hasn’t won statewide office since 2000.

She trails Mr. Perdue by at least 5 percent in most polls.

The ad, which has not yet aired, will highlight a gender pay discrimination lawsuit brought by female store managers who claimed Dollar General underpaid them during Mr. Perdue’s tenure. The company settled the suite in 2011, after Mr. Perdue had left. He ran Dollar General from 2003 to 2007.
