Even Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones made a comment about Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III getting down.
Jones took to Twitter to invite Griffin over to Baltimore for some sliding lessons.
Wednesday at the Redskins Park, Griffin said he understood the concern and focus about him staying out of harm’s way. Griffin left the pocket three times Monday against the Cleveland Browns. Once, he slid awkwardly. Another time, he was bounced back inside when trying to get out of bounds. The third time, he got down.
“I’m glad that people care,” Griffin said. “Talked to coach (Jay Gruden) about it. He understood what I was doing in all three of those situations. Like I said, on the third time, I got it right and got down. It’s a continual process of getting better at everything. I’m aware of that. Fans are aware.
“It’s three instances in two quarters of play. The first one, just have to get down sooner. The second one, I was trying to get out of bounds and just got popped right back in by the guy on the sideline. The third one, just got down. It’s stuff that we learn from. I’m out there running and doing stuff and playing the game. I’ll get better at getting down.”
Griffin said he’s practiced sliding in training camp. He’s also fighting the urge to stay up.

“That intensity you have for the game makes you who you are,” Griffin said. “For me, it’s the second game of the preseason, I just can’t do that. I acknowledged that. I understand that and I’ll continue to get better.”
At one point, Griffin was limping a bit on the field. He took a knee to the thigh during a hit in the pocket — which is when he was hit the hardest Monday, not while scrambling. Griffin said he’s fine today.
