Sen. Elizabeth Warren had an awkward encounter Wednesday with a reporter after the Massachusetts Democrat wouldn’t say whether former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was the best choice for president.

Ms. Warren, who many liberal activists are pushing to make a bid for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination, dodged the Clinton query while speaking with a group of reporters.

“Hillary is terrific,” Ms. Warren said when asked the question by a reporter for Boston’s Fox News affiliate.

“Is she the best choice though?” the reporter pressed.

Ms. Warren was unable to answer the question before an aide informed reporters it was time for the senator to go inside for an event.

“You’re being rescued. Your rescuer is here,” another reporter said.
