Police on Tuesday said they’ve arrested Jaycee Chan, 32, the son of Hong Kong and Hollywood kungfu movie legend Jackie Chan.
The younger Mr. Chan, who also works as an actor and singer, tested positive for marijuana on Monday, state-run media reported. Police conducting a search on his residence also found 100 grams of what they said was the drug, too, Reuters reported.
Arrested with Mr. Chan was Taiwan movie star Ko Chen-tung, who also tested positive for marijuana, Xinhua news said.
Police were led to the arrests by tips from residents, Global Times reported.
China doesn’t take lightly to drug users, doling out harsh penalties such as death or life in prison for those caught using, Reuters reported.
Jackie Chan’s management company, M’Stones International Corp., sent out a statement saying it was standing by Jaycee, Reuters reported.
