The Missouri teen whose fatal shooting touched off more than a week’s worth of violent protests in the streets of Ferguson had marijuana in his system at the time of his death, an autopsy report showed.
St. Louis County Medical Examiner Mary Case found that Michael Brown, 18, tested positive for pot, The Washington Post said, citing an unnamed source. Ms. Case’s report has been given to the St. Louis County prosecutor’s office but has yet to be made public, the New York Post reported.
Some protesters thought that Brown would hit positive on the pot testing — and then demanded that the police officer who shot him, Darren Wilson, face testing, too, the New York Post reported.
The newspaper reported that one protest leader said: “What was in the system of that cop when he was pumping bullets into that boy’s body?
The autopsy is only one of three being performed. A second from an independent source was conducted at the request of the Brown family, and a third is coming from the Department of Justice.
