Rupert Murdoch, the founder and CEO of News Corp., said what’s going on Ferguson, Missouri, is likely to replicate in communities around the nation due in large part to the sluggish economy.
In separate tweets, the media magnate wrote: “US has historic high in people out of work. Major changes needed to open opportunities, fix schools or face more Fergusons,” Newsmax found.
And in a followup tweet, Mr. Murdoch also wondered: “Will Congress act on demilitarization of police when it reconvenes?”
Ferguson has been likened to a battle zone in recent days, as police — decked in camo gear and driving an armored vehicle — clashed with protesters angered by the death of 18-year-old Michael Brown.
The National Guard has just been called to the scene to calm the crowd, following the overnight arrest of several and shooting of two.
