DERRY, N.H. (AP) — Arizona Sen. John McCain and New Hampshire Republican Senate hopeful Scott Brown say U.S. foreign policy is weak and ineffective under President Barack Obama.

The two spoke in front of about 175 people at a town hall-style meeting Monday morning at Pinkerton Academy in Derry.

McCain is popular among Republicans in the state: He won the 2000 presidential primary then won it again in 2008 on his way to the GOP nomination.

Brown is the former U.S. senator from Massachusetts who’s in a primary contest against former U.S. Sen. Bob Smith and former state Sen. Jim Rubens. The winner of the Sept. 9 primary will face Democratic incumbent Jeanne Shaheen.

Brown had another Republican presidential nominee campaign for him: Mitt Romney was in New Hampshire last month to support Brown.
