Running back Chris Thompson keeps slipping back in the competition for a 53-man roster spot.

Thompson (sprained ankle) will not play Monday night against the Cleveland Browns in the Redskins’ second preseason game.

Also out are tight end Mike Caussin (knee), linebacker Darryl Sharpton (high right ankle sprain) and defensive end Jason Hatcher (left knee surgery). None of those players were expected to play.

Jarvis Jenkins is expected to start in place of Hatcher at right defense end.

Fourteen players are not playing for the Browns:

Wide receiver Nate Burleson, defensive backs Buster Skrine, Pierre Desir, Isaiah Trufant, K’Waun Williams, Aaron Berry, and T.J. Heath, linebackers Darius Eubanks and Eric Martin, offensive linemen Michael Bowie, Randall Harris, Paul McQuistan, defensive lineman Desmond Bryant and linebacker Keith Pough.
