Fans of Robin Williams are petitioning to include a character of the comic-actor in the upcoming edition of “The Legend of Zelda” — a move they say will honor the now-deceased star, who reportedly loved the video game so much that he named his daughter after the featured princess.
“In a day where there aren’t many words, what can we do? Well, there’s a new Zelda game on the horizon,” said Nick Schaedel, the creator of the petition that’s been posted at Change.org, the New York Post reported. “A bold reinvention, a fresh new open world adventure for Wii U. I would like to suggest that when the game is localized to English, Nintendo of America and the Treehouse name one of the characters ’Robin’ in his memory. He won’t get to play it, but he’ll live on forever in a universe he always loved.”
Williams was such a fan of the game that he was recently hired to promote the franchise, the New York Post reported.
So far, the petition’s generated 36,000 signers.
The makers of World of Warcraft have already said they’re going to feature a new character after Williams in one of their upcoming games.
