Two Amish sisters, age 7 and 12, snatched from their family’s roadside food stand in broad daylight in New York, managed to escape their captors and were returned home, law enforcement said Friday.
Delila Miller and Fannie Miller — reported initially as 6 years old and 12 years old, respectively — were reunited with their parents in the rural town of Oswegatchie, located in northern New York, Fox News said. St. Lawrence County District Attorney Mary Rain said the girls turned up wet and cold, but otherwise unharmed, about 13 miles from where they were snatched.
The pair knocked on a door of a Richville home and asked for help, recounting how they were selling food at their family stand when two men driving a white vehicle pulled up and grabbed them. The girls said they were taken to an abandoned house and told not to leave, but then the men left, Fox News reported.
“It’s absolutely amazing,” said Dot Simmons, a neighbor of the girls’ family, speaking of their safe return, Fox News reported.
