President Obama’s vacationing ways have captured the attention of overseas allies, who urge him: get back in the White House — people are dying in Iraq.
“I know it is the holiday period in our Western countries,” French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius told a radio interviewer Tuesday, referring to Mr. Obama’s two-week stint on Martha’s Vineyard while Islamic State terrorists take over Iraq, the New York Post reported.
“But when people are dying, you must come back from vacation,” Mr. Fabius said.
Mr. Obama’s vacation time on the Vineyard has been regarded similarly by both the press and political groups in the United States.
The New York Daily News ran a headline: “Iraq, Gaza woes won’t stop Obama’s vacation in Martha’s Vineyard.”
Conservative radio commentator Mark Levin ranted that Mr. Obama’s choice of vacation spot was basically “the whitest place on Earth,” known for its elitist atmosphere and wealthy residents.
The Republican National Committee released an attack ad about Mr. Obama’s vacation, titled “Par for the Course,” showcases his life of leisure while several crises play around the world.
“Not much comes between Obama and his vacations,” the ad states, Red Alert Politics reported.
