Protesters in Ferguson who’ve been in the streets for more than four days say they’re not going anywhere — that they’re sick and tired of racism and police brutality, and they’re staying until killed teen Michael Brown gets some justice.
“I”ve had enough of being pushed around because of the color of my skin, I’m sick of this police brutality, and I’m angry cause of what they done to Michael Brown,” said one protester, 18, who only gave his name as Terrell, in the Chicago Tribune. “I’m going to keep coming back here night after night until we get justice.”
His words came as the protests in the St. Louis streets of the neighborhood of Ferguson entered the fourth evening. Protesters are angry at the death of Brown, shot and killed by a police officer during a reported struggle over a gun.
One witness to that shooting, however, said Brown was shot and killed when his hands — which were empty — were raised in the air in surrender, various media reported.
Police — donned in SWAT gear and rallying around an armored vehicle — have been firing tear gas into the crowd, which totals around 350, the Chicago Tribune reported. About 40 have been arrested in the past few days.
