Two women were sentenced to death by stoning in a 24-hour period for supposed acts of adultery — verdicts handed down by clerics in Syria affiliated with Islamic State.
The Associated Press reported that shortly after the second woman was read her fate late last month, a truck arrived at the Raqqa site of sentencing and dumped a pile of rocks. The woman, clothed head to toe in black, was then buried up to her waist.
The terrorists then told gathered residents to begin stoning the woman, the Daily Mail reported. Nobody did, however, one witness told AP. So the jihadists threw the stones themselves.
“Even when she was hit with stones, she did not scream or move,” said the witness, who added that the woman appeared to be sedated.
This was the second such stoning for adultery in a two-day period. A 26-year-old woman accused of sex outside of marriage was sentenced to the same fate by Islamic State fighters just hours earlier, AP reported.
Northern Syria has been a hotspot of terrorist activity of late, as Islamic State radicals attempt to take over the grounds and instill Sharia law. They’ve reportedly carried out several beheadings and crucifixions of those who stand in their way or violate Islamic teachings.
