The same attorney who represented the family of Trayvon Martin — the Florida teen who was killed by George Zimmerman during a confrontation in residential streets — was just hired by the family of the 18-year-old black St. Louis man who was killed this weekend by a police officer.
Benjamin Crump just agreed to represent the family of Michael Brown, who was killed by a police officer’s gun during an altercation on Saturday, the Daily Mail reported. Mr. Crump is due to deliver remarks about the incident on Monday during a scheduled press conference at a church in Jennings, Missouri.
Mr. Crump specializes in law involving personal injuries, wrongful death and civil rights issues.
Brown’s death — which came after he and another reportedly wrestled in the street, and then pushed a police officer who responded to the scene — has been compared to the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon, as he walked through a neighborhood in Florida.
Since Brown’s death, protesters in the area have been rallying in the streets and rioting, breaking into stores and looting merchandise.
