American health officials are transferring an American patient infected with the Ebola virus from West Africa to the U.S. for treatment in Atlanta.
NBC News reports at least one patient will be treated at the Emory University Hospital in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Dr. Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol were infected with Ebola while working with patients in Liberia, a part of West Africa that is seeing the worst outbreak of the deadly virus since its discovery in the late 1970s.
The CDC on Thursday warned people to avoid nonessential travel to the West African nations of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
As for American evacuations, CDC Director Thomas Frieden said any modern hospital with an isolation unit can treat an Ebola patient, according to NBC.
