Conservative radio host Mark Levin said those who care about the fate of America’s freedoms need to take a dramatic and quick step and outright oust the leadership of the Republican Party at the ballot box.
“If we do not clean out the current leadership in the Republican Party … the country’s going to continue to unravel,” he said on his Thursday evening broadcast.
“Neo-statists” — those who claim to be aligned with conservative principles but aren’t — are an especial threat, he said, Breitbart reported. These are the people who “would have conservatives abandon the high ground of the Founding principles for the quicksand of a soft tyranny,” Mr. Levin said.
Who was he talking about? Mr. Levin named Karl Rove, Jeb Bush, George Bush, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell and Michael Gerson, Breitbart said.
“By abandoning principle for efficiency, the neo-statist, it seems, is no more bound to the Constitution than is the statist. John Boehner is no more bound to the Constitution, Mitch McConnell is no more bound to the Constitution and, it’s sad to say, the majority of Republicans in the House are no more bound to the Constitution than the statist,” Mr. Levin said. “They don’t believe in what we believe in.”
The biggest challenge fighters for freedom now face is within the ranks of the GOP, he said.
“Our biggest obstacle is the Republican Party,” Mr. Levin said. “If the Bush family had had its way … if Karl Rove had had his way, if Mitch McConnell had had his way … Ronald Reagan would never have been the Republican nominee for president.”
