MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Community Foundation says local organizations have received over 100 grants totaling almost $200,000 in 2013.

One hundred and six community organizations across Vermont received grants from the Small and Inspiring Grant Program administered by the Vermont Community Foundation for local projects.

Officials say the goal of that program is to connect neighbors and strengthen communities. The Vermont Community Foundation is a tax-exempt public charity that supports the state’s nonprofit sector with grants and investments.

Among the projects that received funding are the Bristol Recreation Department’s playground project, the Milton Community Youth Coalition’s farmers’ market and peer advocacy education and training for Women Helping Battered Women.

Nonprofit organizations interested in applying for can visit vermontcf.org/availablegrants for more information. The deadline for the next round is June 2.
