TAYLOR, Mich. (AP) - An 8-year-old girl reported missing from a Detroit-area motel was found safe at home.
The girl’s parents were arrested for possible child neglect after police confirmed the girl was OK. An Amber Alert issued Wednesday morning was canceled.
Police say the family of five was either evicted or chose to leave their Dearborn Heights home Tuesday night and stayed at a Comfort Inn in Taylor. The girl’s parents told police that they lost track of her when they went inside to check in. They thought she was in a pickup truck.
Taylor Police Chief Mary Sclabassi says the girl was “fortunately unaware” of the confusion and the search when officers found her.
